Mane

Writer's picture: AdeleAdele

I. Control of Hair Growth

(The most important factors controlling molting are ambient temperature and photoperiod, and this means that animals kept indoors in a near-constant environment may shed all year-round)

The most important hair control devices

are the different temperatures and

periods of light,

which means that indoor animals

can almost certainly flow throughout the year.

II. Overheard

Do you like my hair?

She asked her newish boyfriend

Um, do I have to?

III. Of course!

Well, of course, you are the expert,

But.

I was thinking

Not too short, but not too long, and not too many layers

of course, I want layers

But no more layers than the layers I have

of course and…

is it possible to get an inch off on this side and half an inch off just a bit above it

Thank you!

IV. The kill

The mane of the lioness whipped in the wind and she stood over her prey.

V. Medusa

The puddle rippled as she passed,

the muffled mirror reflected her warped face

her hair was usually pulled back

But not today.

The muffled mirror reflected her warped face

bubbling and boiling in anger

But not today

The tentacles couldn’t grip her freckled face.

Bubbling and boiling in anger

The octopus retreated to its cave

the tentacles couldn’t grip her freckled face

The puddle rippled as she passed.

VI. Visitant

Do you remember

When we hid behind the

Dark leather couch

Next to the old batteries and shards of glass

And cut off our hair?

Do you remember

How the blood dripped down the side of my head

Like a small stream

Crawling down into my mouth?

Do you remember

How mother screamed

And father retreated into his den

And drowned himself in solitude?

Do you remember

why we never saw them again?

VII. Split Ends

I could ignore them, the

hundreds of split ends and brittle hairs that ruin my otherwise perfectly normal hair

Instead, I spend hours (literally)

Breaking them. Hoping they’ll eventually

go

away

They always fall in the most inconvenient places

But accepting the consequences

I break them anyway
